Joanne Powley Mindfulness Pilates™
Pilates practice and Mindfulness are natural allies. Much of what we teach in Pilates has strong elements of Mindfulness: concentration, centring, breathing etc. Combining the 2 practices has resulted in a physically gentler class with the focus on using the mind to develop the physical skills and mental tranquillity.
Joanne Powley Mindfulness Pilates™ uses the 7 principles of mindfulness as the basis of a 6-week programme. Every 6 weeks the programme changes but the mindfulness practice remains the same as each new set of exercises presents a new and different challenges. Each week develops a gentle progression from the basic exercise to a more complex and challenging form while building on the mindfulness practice to bring about a whole system change in state. Breathing is emphasised to anchor you to each part of the class, both the exercise and the transitions between them.
Over time, you will see a change in how you react to new challenges in the class and in your daily life.
